Symposium Art and Innovation: The Future of Interdisciplinarity

Join us  Wednesday 19 March for a lively afternoon of connecting art practice to innovation, and probing the future of interdisciplinarity. ‘Art and Innovation: The Future of Interdisciplinarity’ is an initiative of The Netherlands Study Centre for Technology Trends (STT) and Het Nieuwe Insitituut.

For STT, March 19 marks the end of the foresight study in which new relations between art, science and technology were explored. Het Nieuwe Instituut will adopt the findings of these explorations, and will apply them in the development of their practice-based researches.

During Art and Innovation: The Future of Interdisciplinarity we will discuss the findings of the STT foresight study, reflect on interdisciplinary, ‘designerly’ approaches to social problems and engage in a debate on the relation between art and innovation.

De Gezonde Mens, een tentoonstelling over gezondheid als ontwerpdomein

“Door de eeuwen heen heeft de wetenschap een enorme hoeveelheid kennis vergaard over het bestrijden en voorkomen van ziekten, niet alleen door het belang van goede voeding en een gezonde leefomgeving te benadrukken, maar ook door de ontwikkeling van hoogwaardige technologie. Ontwerpers zijn altijd nauw bij dat proces betrokken geweest. Wat valt er te leren van het verleden? En welke rol kunnen kunst, toegepaste games, apps, 3D-printen en bijvoorbeeld robots spelen in actuele vraagstukken?”

Het Nieuwe Instituut presenteert van 21 september 2013 t/m 5 januari 2014 De Gezonde Mens, een tentoonstelling over gezondheid als ontwerpdomein in het Designhuis in Eindhoven. Curator Sabine Wildevuur toont hoe technologie, innovatie en ontwerp de zorgsector in de loop van de geschiedenis hebben beïnvloed, en welke mogelijkheden zich nu en in de toekomst aandienen. Het Nieuwe Instituut wil met De Gezonde Mens aandacht vragen voor de belangrijke bijdrage die ontwerpers leveren en kunnen bieden aan het zorgvraagstuk in de samenleving.

De tentoonstelling is een samenwerkingsproject met Gemeente Eindhoven.
