Martin Hoorweg (1980), Artist and Marketing & Communication Professional received his Masters degree in Business Administration from Erasmus University, Rotterdam and BFA from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. Combining his diverse backgrounds he works as an artist, arts editor, curator and Marketer. During his Fine Arts education he worked for the ‘AR @ Van Gogh’ project at the Van Gogh Museum, applying Augmented Reality to communicate the relationship between Gauguin and Van Gogh. As a curator he was part of the curatorial team of the first crowdsourced Fine Arts exhibition in the Netherlands, the ‘Zomerexpo’ (summer exhibition) at the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague in 2011. Being involved with the Times Square Art Square Foundation in New York, working to ‘replace all billboards with art’, he is furthering the relationships between the foundation, cultural institutions worldwide, governmental organisations and advertisers and has set up exhibitions in New York and Amsterdam to bring the project to the attention of the masses. Earlier this summer he and his colleagues were invited to deliver the final keynote addressing the future of museums at the international ‘Communicating the Museum’ conference held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
